Established in 2007, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), under the directives of its President, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, is working towards maintaining and developing a leading status in the global aviation sector.The DCAA has established the Dubai Aviation Strategy for the period 2010 to 2020, in cooperation with the concerned governmental and non-governmental stakeholders.
The Authority's key tasks include the development of civil aviation, supervision of all matters connected thereto within the Emirate of Dubai, the securing of aero political rights for international air transport for Dubai's national carriers, and the negotiatiation and conclusion of air service agreements in this regard. The scope of the aviation sector covers all air transport and air transport related activities, such as sales and leisure travel, cargo and logistics services and maintenance services. This broad scope of the aviation sector was chosen to encourage thinking beyond the lines of solely air transport, leading towards a broader sector. This holistic view of air transport is an enabler for tourism, trade and commerce in the Emirate of Dubai.
Our vision is to support Dubai to become the Global Aviation Capital contributing to the prosperity and to enable the growth in the Emirate of Dubai. Therefore, the focus on the aviation sector in the coming decade will be to accelerate the growth and improve the value for passenger and cargo transport by air, logistics, general aviation and ancillary businesses.
The Aviation sector in the Emirate of Dubai plays a vital role in its economy, and is the leading contributor to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Emirate, therefore. our vision is to support Dubai in becoming the Global Aviation Capital, contributing to prosperity and enabling sustainable growth in the Emirate of Dubai and the global aviation industry.
